Who We Are
The Van Zandt Stewards were formed in 1985 as Van Zandt Community Hall Association (VZCHA) with a mission to establish, enhance and promote educational, recreational and charitable opportunities while preserving the Van Zandt Community Hall. Based on ideals of acceptance and inclusion, the Association encourages and organizes an extended network of volunteers to collaborate in fulfilling our mission, bringing all elements of the South Fork Valley community together in a welcoming atmosphere. While the Hall and surrounding property are owned by Whatcom County, the Van Zandt Stewards are responsible for maintenance and capital improvements, and make arrangements for Hall and park rental and usage.
What We Do
The Stewards provide an open, supportive climate for families and children, encouraging people to participate in and contribute to our community. Our overall focus is on building community by creating opportunities to connect with each other, including disseminating a monthly email newsletter and providing access to our community radio station--KAVZ-LP 102.5 FM--which features local programming, music, news, and events. The Stewards meet monthly and encourage full participation and input from all community members.
