Who We Are
We're a mostly-volunteer nonprofit that was established in 2021. Our mission has three major parts:
To PLANT trees wherever feasible within Whatcom County -- via hands-on work parties and business partnerships.
To PROTECT existing mature trees in urban neighborhoods and within key watersheds -- via policy advocacy and the removal of tree-killing invasives.
To CONNECT people to the immense multi-faceted value of trees and forests -- via community education and special events.
We are doing the above to urgently address climate and biodiversity crises and to enhance the health and resilience of our local communities.
Please join our volunteer admin team to be a part of very satisfying, positive action for the environment -- and for all of us!
What We Do
Via fun work parties, we plant native trees in public lands (such as City of Bellingham Parks) and semi-public lands throughout Whatcom County. We also work to protect existing mature trees/forests locally from tree-killing invasives. Last but not least, we policy advocate to help advance solutions that will protect trees/forests from development in urban areas as well as from clearcut logging in key watersheds, especially Lake Whatcom Watershed.
We also are raising Whatcom’s tree awareness with innovative business partnerships, community film events, author/expert presentations, on-site visits, and more. All highlight the multi-faceted ways that trees/forests enhance the health & resilience of our communities.
