Francis Place is seeking a volunteer to come in regularly to cook a meal for our community of tenants, using ingredients already on hand, in our shared cooking space. During your time you would be encouraged to demonstrate food prep, cooking, and clean up skills to tenants. You will be interacting with people who sometimes present challenging behaviors, so it is important that you have experience in this area, specifically with people who use substances and have differing mental health statuses. During your time at Francis Place you can also expect to make meaningful connections with kind, generous, and resilient members of your Bellingham community, who will teach you as much as you will teach them.
We are looking for a flexible, consistent, independent worker, who can roll with challenging behaviors with a non-judgmental attitude, who also possesses the ability to look at a collection of ingredients and come up with something to cook.
Hours are flexible; could be once/week or once/month, depending on your interest and availability. CCS has our own volunteer application process, which requires a background check.
