Volunteering at Catholic Housing Services’ Villa Santa Fe site (VSF). Bakerview Family Housing, LLC, also known as Villa Santa Fe apartments, is designated as a farmworker housing area and home to many different cultures. It encompasses a 50 unit apartment complex along with its office space and community rooms. In-person work strongly requested.
We at Villa Santa Fe practice safe public health measures that are in compliance with the Washington State Safe Start reopening project including: mask adherence in public indoor spaces, limiting of office entry to those with appointments, COVID-19 screening for office entry, social distancing between work spaces, appropriate daily sanitization of commonly touched surfaces/areas, and required masks for office entry for visitors (masks are readily provided upon request).
All work will be done in the community kitchen and throughout our three apartment buildings. Masks, face shields, and other PPE such as gloves are required for participation, even if one is fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or not. We are happily able to provide all three, and usage of your own personal PPE is encouraged. For the time being, Catholic Housing Services continues to follow its own mask mandate while Washington State has fully reopened.
Tasks include: lifting of multiple food boxes and produce, handling carts for food transport in and around buildings, contactless deliveries outside designated apartments, and clean up/sanitization of equipment used. This makes for a great opportunity for those who are interested in community service and food security
Must be willing to work-in person, have availability on Thursday, 5-6pm or 5:30-6:30pm (at the latest) for food deliveries (and some Tuesdays around holiday seasons), comply with our sanitization protocols, and possess a willingness to serve others.

| Inclement Weather Plan: This volunteer opportunity happens rain or shine! However, our area gets weather that makes traveling or completion unsafe. In the event that an unscheduled delay or closure occurs for Villa Santa Fe or for our community partner in food deliveries, you will be contacted (via email and/or telephone) and made known about it by noon the day of or as soon as we receive the initial notice. We will update you as developments arise onwards. Volunteers are encouraged to respond saying they received the notice, as well as using their best judgment before traveling to VSF if they feel inclement weather might prevent a safe commute to the site. Calling 360-594-9568 for updates is encouraged as well. | |
