Needs From: The Volunteer Center of Whatcom County

Habitat for Humanity is in search of a volunteer willing to donate a couple hours of their time several days a week towards helping us manage our clothing lifecycle! The ideal person will be in charge of wrangling all of our clothing donations into large bags and then placing them into our baler while also keeping a keen eye out for sellable merchandise. They'll also be asked to check the clothing section for cleanliness and order when they are here; working to enhance the shopping experience by removing empty hangers, decorating, picking up dropped items, organzing the area, and redressing our mannequin model.

Our clothing baler makes 700 pound bales that are then sold to a 2nd party to help us generate fundraising from overstock textiles!

Habitat for Humanity's Store on Cornwall is in need of a regular cashier to join us on Wednesdays from 3pm-6pm. We are seeking someone who is friendly, open to asking for round-up donations, comfortable handling money, and who can answer the register phones- all training provided! This is a position where you may be seated during your shift.

Habitat for Humanity in Whatcom County is looking to onboard Volunteers who need Service Hours for school. A typical day at Habitat can include greeting donors, loading and unloading furniture or smaller donations, sorting and pricing donations in our back room, testing and pricing electronics, getting our clothing donations ready for palletizing, running the cash register, answering phone calls- so many options!

Habitat for Humanity in Whatcom County's thrift store is searching for people interested in tinkering and testing our incoming electronics. We get all kinds of donated gadgets that need to be up and running- walkie talkies, headphones, keyboards, kitchen appliances, lighting, game systems- you name it! With the mounds of generous donations from the community, we need help from equally generous volunteers to come by to test, clean, and appraise these incoming items in our back room before they get put out for sale!

You'll get the opportunity to work with a Staff Member to learn how we sort, price, and display our hardware donations at the Habitat Store. There are also opportunities to answer questions about our tools that our wonderful customers ask frequently. Every donation and purchase helps fund the goal to build affordable housing for families in Whatcom County. With your help, we can make it easier for everyone to make this dream come true!

Your local Habitat Store is looking for strong and compassionate individuals to help us run our daily operations! Time spent at Habitat Whatcom leads to building affordable housing for Whatcom County families.
