Needs From: The Volunteer Center of Whatcom County

Are you interested in the issues surrounding affordable housing? Want to start working towards a solution? The Habitat Store sells donated new and used furniture, appliances, housewares, and building supplies to the public. This is one of the most important sources of funding to help us build! The money we generate from sales helps build homes and run our organization. Right now we have a high need for volunteers in the following areas:

PRICING items and/or moving them out to the sales floor Move items around warehouse as directed by the Habitat Store Management team CLOTHING - sorting and baling clothes in the back room

If you have a keen attention to detail, like to work efficiently, and have a passion for recycling, we would love to meet you! Shifts are available Monday-Saturday. Please go to www.hfhwhatcom.org/volunteer to create an account so we can contact you to get you started.

Accept donations Price and or place donated items out to the sales floor Light cleaning such as sweeping & breaking down cardboard boxes Move items around warehouse as directed by the Habitat Store Management team Cashiering (experience preferred) this requires a 3 hour commitment Answer telephones and provide store information/direction to callers

If any of these sound interesting you can respond to us here or on our website @ www.hfhwhatcom.org click on volunteer go to our orientation and safety videos, fill out our volunteer application and we will contact you to get you started.  We so appreciate our volunteers and having them join us in building healthy neighborhoods that create equity and prosperity for everyone.

Our volunteers and partner homebuyers do most of the work of building the Habitat homes. We encourage volunteers of all skill levels and those who want to learn skills to come lend a helping hand.  You might like it so much that you’d become a regular!

We welcome individual volunteers as well as businesses, churches, and civic groups. Volunteering on building Habitat homes can be a great team building or fellowship activity.  While the work we do can change day by day here are a few examples of the type of task you might find on the work site:

Framing and Siding  General/Finish Carpentry Flooring and Carpet Drywall Installation Prep work for painting Concrete Pouring and Foundation Work and much more!
