Needs From: The Volunteer Center of Whatcom County

Now more than ever we are hosting events of all kinds in our all-ages alcohol free venue and classroom. From classes to music/art shows we got it all. For these events we often need folks to run the door (sometimes be a bouncer), keep an eye on the safety of attendees and the books, run sound, and hosting. Event's that need the most help are usually Fridays and Saturdays from 7-11 p.m. Please come to our weekly meetings (Wednesdays at 7p.m.), email us (bellingham.alternative.library@gmail.com), or come in during open hours to fill out an application.

Want to get some experience doing simple librarianing?  Do you love alternative literature and alternative topics?  Want to read, talk about, and recommend graphic novels to library patrons?  Come check out the Alternative Library!  We are a cooperatively volunteer run lending library, art space, and community space.  We hold volunteer meetings on Wednesdays at 7pm at our current location, 519 Maple st.  Send us an email (bellingham.alternative.library@gmail.com) or just show up to our meeting if you're interested and want to learn more!

Do you want to get involved with the library but are nervous about the responsibilities or scheduling challenges. There's a great deal of clerical work such as alphabetizing, collection calls, public relations/advertising, and organizing donations that can all be done at anytime of day once you are trained.
