Who We Are
CIRC was founded in 2021 through the integration of two non-profits Downtown Action to Save Housing (DASH), the SHAG Community Life Foundation (CLF) a supportive services organization that was founded in 2012 to support older adults in the Puget Sound. The resident services team supports both CIRC-managed and non CIRC managed communities. The mission of CIRC is to provide sustainable housing and enhance the lives of older adults and families. CIRC works to ensure that low to moderate income individuals avoid homelessness and remain independent and healthy. Our vision is that all older adults and families have access to safe, secure, affordable housing so they can thrive.
What We Do
The Resident Services side of CIRC provides 1:1 assistance through Resident Service Coordinators (RSCs) and global programming through Program Managers (PMs) to reduce barriers and increase independence for our residents. RSCs connect residents to local, regional, and federal support for basic needs, medical support, transportation, assist them with understanding their lease, and offer presentations with either external partners or developed internally. Basic needs include signing residents up for SNAP, reduced cost phone and internet service, and utility discount programs. These benefits assist residents in lowering their monthly bills and maintaining their housing. Program Managers oversee portfolio-wide programs for all CIRC supported communities, all unique in population served and varied in size and location. We host annual resource fairs and educational presentations. We support 14 resident led food pantries through partnerships with local food banks and supplement with CIRC grant funds. We have SAIL (Stay Active and Independent for Life) fitness programs at 3 communities, with plans to expand to all 8 King County locations through funding with the Veterans, Seniors, and Human Services Levy. Our nursing programs include partnerships with Seattle University, Saint Martin’s University, and University of Washington to bring health education and activities. We partner with a local pharmacy to bring vaccines onsite to our residents. At most of our communities, we also offer a transportation program. The Program Manager oversees a fleet of drivers and vans that allow residents to go to grocery stores and have recreational trips.
