The Arc of Whatcom County provides information and referrals, educational programs, and funding for people with developmental disabilities, their families and the organizations that serve them. The Arc of Whatcom County is dedicated to meeting the needs of children and adults with developmental disabilities, such as cerebral palsy, autism and Down syndrome.
Our volunteers are intricately involved in every aspect of our work. We have volunteers who answer the phone and greet visitors, becoming what may be the first positive connection a new family has. We have volunteers who research and create informational materials that help families navigate the complex world of services. We have volunteers who help produce our newsletter, an essential lifeline that keeps families and individuals in-the-know about events and programs. And that’s not all--Check out our volunteer jobs to learn more about how you can get involved.
How to become a volunteer at The Arc:
- Attend a volunteer orientation. This is a great opportunity to learn more about what we do here at The Arc and how you might get involved. We schedule an orientation every two months and hope you can make it to one soon.
- Complete a volunteer or internship application.
- Come in for an interview. We want to get to know you and give you a chance to get to know us, so we know it’s a good fit for both of us!
- Background check and enrollment form with The Volunteer Center.
