In just about any youth program that a volunteer might be involved in, food has some kind of relevance...regardless of whether what kids are being served is excellent, shabby, or middle of the road. As adults, we all carry our own “baggage” about food. Whether we are graduates of the “Clean Plate Club”, consider Velveeta a major food group, are expert cooks or don’t know how to do more than open a box and boil water, it’s worth taking some time in a non-judgmental and empowering environment to reflect on the messages we would most wish for children to be receiving about food.
