Join us in our 8th Annual Community Supported Justice Potluck as we honor the legacy of Cesar Chavez and the work of Community to Community Development (C2C). 2013 was a historic and dynamic year for farmworker rights, racial equity and environmental justice! Come celebrate the Movement with C2C and Seattle Councilwoman, Kshama Sawant!
More than ever before, C2C needs the support of the community as we build on the momentum of last year! 2014 will be another critical year for immigration, farmworker, economic, gender and racial justice. This is our biggest fundraising event of the year! This year, we have a goal of raising $10,000 and we know this type of community supported justice is possible! Please consider joining us and taking an active role by funding the Movement!
C2C is thrilled and honored to be joined by Seattle City Councilwoman, Kshama Sawant as our Keynote Speaker. In the 2013 general election, Sawant defeated 16-year incumbent Democrat Richard Conlin for a seat on the Seattle City Council. She is the first socialist to be elected in Seattle for more than a century. This trailblazing campaign is based on funding human needs, not corporate greed. Sawant is an economics teacher at Seattle Central Community College and a member of the American Federation of Teachers Local 1789. She was an activist in the Occupy Wall Street movement, and is a fighter for workers, women, LGBTQ people, and immigrants. Councilwoman Sawant actively supported the Skagit farmworker’s right to strike this past summer! C2C stands in solidarity with the $15 minimum wage campaign for ALL workers!
