Are you a new parent looking for a way to bond with your baby while giving back to the community?
Will you have a 2-4 month old by November 2026?
The Roots of Empathy program is delivered to elementary school children who are coached to recognize and connect with the vulnerability and humanity of a baby who visits their classroom throughout the school year with their parent(s), along with a trained Roots of Empathy Instructor using a specialized curriculum. We are looking for families with babies born between May-September 2026 to join us for the school year!
What's Involved?
- 9 classroom visits over the school year, approx. 1x/month for 30 minutes starting in September or October
- Each visit has a particular theme (crying, diapering, safety, preparing for baby, etc...)
- You'll stay with the same classroom, teacher, and Roots of Empathy instructor for the entire year
- A big green blanket is spread on the floor during family visits and the children sit around it. They will all wash their hands before you enter the room. Students are not allowed to touch your baby and the blanket acts as a natural barrier as they observe and interact with them.
- You get to watch a class of children fall in love with your baby!
