You will coordinate all information provided to the general public about Volunteer Mobilization Center (VMC) operations and volunteer needs.

The VMC is a reception and referral center for spontaneous volunteers who respond to disasters. The VMC purpose is to register volunteers as state emergency workers and to coordinate volunteers with emergency response agencies.
We are looking for an experienced person who can form relationships with the media in Whatcom County. The VMC will be activated by the Whatcom County Sheriff's Office - Division of Emergency Management in times of overwhelming disaster.
There is also work to do during non-emergencies (press releases, radio interviews, getting stories published, and more). Probably 2-5 hours per month, and you can work from home.
