Organization Overview: Animals as Natural Therapy (ANT) is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing therapeutic and educational programs that promote the well-being of individuals and communities through interactions with animals. Position: Board Member
Location: Whatcom County / Remote
Position Type: Volunteer
Time Commitment: Approximately 2-5 hours per month, including board meetings, committee work, ANT events, and additional responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
As a Board Member of Animals as Natural Therapy, you will play a vital role in guiding and supporting the organization's mission and strategic direction. Your responsibilities include:
- Governance and Strategic Planning:
- Actively participate in the development and implementation of ANT's strategic plan by attending strategic planning sessions and work groups.
- Help establish and monitor policies, goals, and objectives to ensure the organization's long-term success.
- Financial Oversight:
- Review and approve the annual budget, ensuring alignment with ANT's mission and goals.
- Contribute to fundraising efforts, including donor cultivation and grant applications.
- Advocacy and Outreach:
- Serve as an ambassador for ANT within the community, promoting its programs and initiatives.
- Assist in identifying and engaging potential partners, donors, and sponsors.
- Committee Participation:
- Serve on one or more board committees, such as governance, internal affairs and external affairs, and actively contribute to their objectives.
- Strategic Decision-Making:
- Collaborate with fellow board members to make informed decisions that support the organization's mission.
- Provide input and feedback on key initiatives and organizational priorities.
- Fiscal Responsibility:
- Ensure ANT maintains financial transparency and accountability, complying with all legal and regulatory requirements.
- Resource Mobilization:
- Contribute to the development and execution of fundraising strategies to secure resources for ANT's programs and initiatives.
- Monitoring and Evaluation:
- Participate in the evaluation of the organization's programs and services, with a focus on their impact and effectiveness.
- Conflict of Interest and Ethical Standards:
- Uphold the highest ethical and fiduciary standards, including avoiding conflicts of interest and acting in the best interests of ANT.
Qualifications:
- A strong commitment to ANT's mission and values.
- Experience in one or more of the following areas: nonprofit governance, fundraising, finance, strategic planning, marketing, animal welfare, or related fields.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
- Time and energy to commit to board duties and responsibilities.
Term Length: Board members typically serve a term of three years, with the possibility of reappointment for additional terms.
