Join our Food Recovery Driver volunteer pool!
Sustainable Connections' Food Recovery Program reduces food insecurity and addresses climate change by recovering and redistributing nutritious surplus food to neighbors in need. We need volunteers to help pick up food from restaurants and transport the food to hunger relief agencies. Sign up here!
We have a diverse list of food recovery opportunities between Monday and Friday from 8 am - 4 pm. Each shift only takes 30 minutes to an hour and works well for people with busy schedules.
We currently have a couple of shifts we need help with!
- Bellingham Public Schools Central Kitchen - Wednesdays at 10am
- Next Chapter Cafe - Mondays at 9am
- Turtle's Cafe - Mondays at 5pm
Plan to:
- Drive your personal vehicle
- Lift food trays as heavy as 25 lbs
- We will provide you with reusable containers for food
Everyone is welcome!
We offer on-site training for your first shift, along with clear, step-by-step instructions for each pickup and drop-off location—so you’ll feel confident every step of the way!
If you’re signing up for your first shift or have any questions, concerns, or accessibility needs, please don’t hesitate to reach out—we’re happy to help!
