Community Boating Center

The Community Boating Center is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that fosters small watercraft education, access, safe recreation, and marine stewardship on Bellingham Bay. We depend heavily on volunteers to support all aspects of the organization from assisting with special events and community outreach, skippering public sails, and being board members. We have a small number of year round administrative staff and rely on volunteers and a team of seasonal staff to lead our educational programs and support boat rentals. Our programs and atmosphere are focused on safe boating, fun, and a positive experience on Bellingham Bay.

We provide access to Bellingham Bay in small, non-motorized vessels through:

1. Educational Programs
1. We offer educational programs and private lessons for both adults and youth.
2. Most of our programs are focused on teaching foundation skills to new or novice boaters, to encourage the community to use and appreciate the resource of Bellingham Bay.
3. Our current programs include sliding-seat rowing, summer youth camps, keelboat and dinghy sailing, paddleboarding, sea kayaking, and guided evening paddles.
4. We believe in equitable access to natural resources, and we work toward this community goal by offering free programs and scholarships for low income adults and youth.
    
2. Boat Rentals
1. We provide affordable boat rentals to access Bellingham Bay for day use only.
2. We rent sea kayaks, sit-on-top kayaks, paddleboards, rowboats, sliding-seat rowboats, sailing dinghies, and keelboats. 
3. We also rent gear including wetsuits, dry bags, paddles, PFDs. 
4. Boats are available for rental when not in use by classes. 
5. Season Passes are available as a savings to regular boaters and families.
    
3. Boat Storage
1. We offer boat storage for all human and sail-powered boats (no power boat storage).
2. Storage customers have 24/7 access to their boat. 

We are a low cost public resource for water sports enthusiasts of all levels!
